FESTIVAL MECHANICS

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Any filmmaker of Filipino citizenship or descent can enter. For Participants or Entrants of Filipino descent but non-citizens: Submit proof of Filipino lineage (may be NSO-certified birth certificate of relative establishing Filipino lineage).
  2. Interested applicants for each sub-section of the shorts section are to comply with the following:
    1. STUDENT CATEGORY
      1. You must currently be an undergraduate student or a graduate not earlier than March 2017, of the endorsing school.
      2. Your film must be endorsed by your school/institute.
      3. You are required to submit a photocopy of your valid School I.D. and registration form.
      4. Open to all high school, undergraduate students or graduate students of film or any related course/subject.
    2. OPEN CATEGORY
      1. Open to all professional and non-professional short filmmakers
  3. All entries must be original and HAVE NOT been submitted and/or exhibited previously in other festivals.
  4. Entrants must comply with all submission requirements in a timely fashion.

SUBMISSION

  1. Submission Materials for Shorts Section are as follows:
    1. STUDENT DIVISION
      1. A duly completed application form (or downloaded from the website www.cinefilpino.com), inclusive of the following details:
        1. A logline of the SHORT FEATURE FILM (25 words max).
        2. Brief Synopsis (300 words max, letter-sized bond paper, 1-inch margin all around, 11 points, Calibri, not to exceed one page).
        3. An official letter signed by your school’s Principal or Dean endorsing your short film.
        4. A brief resume/bio-data and two (2) recent 2x2 photos of the proponent(s)/entrant(s).
        5. Created content
        6. Cast and crew list.
    2. NON-STUDENT DIVISION
      1. A duly completed application form (or downloaded from the website www.cinefilpino.com), inclusive of the following details:
        1. A logline of the SHORT FEATURE FILM (25 words max).
        2. Brief Synopsis (300 words max, letter-sized bond paper, 1-inch margin all around, 11 points, Calibri, not to exceed one page).
        3. A brief resume/bio-data and two (2) recent 2x2 photos of the proponent(s)/entrant(s).
        4. Cast and crew list.
  2. The entries in the shorts category should run only from 5-30 minutes. Should the film be selected as a finalist, the short film must comply with technical specs of commercial theaters and HD and SD broadcast channels.
  3. The completed Shorts Section entries must be submitted on DVD and Data File Formats (Quicktime MOV, and MP4), and uploaded to cinefilipino.com.
  4. All entries must be submitted in a long brown envelope properly labeled with the proponent(s)’ name(s), project title and contact details (e-mail, phone, home and/or office address).
  5. All these materials must be sent via certified mail or dropped off no later than 7:00 pm, on 30 AUGUST 2017 at the CineFilipino Film Festival™ Office c/o Unitel Productions, Inc. – 4th Floor Salustiana D. SELECTION

  1. For the student division, an e-mail will be sent to the SCHOOL and PROPONENT(S) whose selection of films has been chosen. For the non-student division, an e-mail will be sent to the contact person/s about whether or not their short film was selected to be a part of the festival.
  2. If selected, the contact person/s has/have to reply within ten (10) working days whether or not they will continue in the competition.

CRITERIA

  1. Originality of material and freshness of storytelling
  2. An authentic reflection of Filipino culture and human experience
  3. Command of film technique and vocabulary
  4. Good potential for audience engagement

GENERAL GUIDELINES
FOR ALL FINALISTS

  1. If you have been chosen, you may only upload the original file in the CineFilipino website (cinefilipino.com). This is to ensure that no reactions or shares may be bought in the spirit of fairness.
  2. Once your film has officially been announced as part of the finalists for CineFilipino Film Festival (CFFF) 2017, you may then share it on any social media platform or in any way you see fit. All finalists may only release their own announcements after CineFilipino has made its own. All finalists will receive an e-mail giving them the signal to start promoting their films.
  3. Any breach of contract will result in penalties, or at worst, disqualification and a suspension period from joining future CFFFs.
